An Early Admission Program
SUNY UPSTATE MEDICAL CENTER
COLLEGE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS and
NIAGARA COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
This program is a unique opportunity for first-time college students with a demonstrated commitment to a career in the health professions (e.g. volunteer/observational experience or participation in a New Visions Program or Health Explorers Post) and a strong record of achievement in math and science course work. Suggested guidelines: 90% average in college preparatory (Regents or higher) program, including at least a three-year sequence in math and science, top 10% of the classs, and a combined SAT score of at least 1150. the student must also demonstrate a strong leadership background in extracurricular activities offered at their high school.
Students will be accepted during their senior year of high school with guaranteed admission into one of the upper-diivision programs at SUNY Upstate Medical Center's College of Health Professions. The decision to admit to Upstate Medical Center will be at the sole discretion of the appropriate admissions committee in the College of Health Professions.
Students accepted into the program must attend an affiliated college or university for their prerequisite college course work. Niagara County Community College agrees to serve as an affiliated institution. The decision to admit to Niagara County Community College will be at the sole discretion of NCCC.
Accepted students must successfully complete all prerequisite courses for the major, as outlined in the current articulation agreement, while maintaining a required cumulative grade point average of 3.3, with no science prerequisite below "B". The student must continue to be involved in the health professions through volunteer, observational, or research experience. Accepted students will also be required to get involved in leadership activities at Niagara County Community College.
The program will be administered by the Student Admissions Office at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. The liaison for the Upstate Medical Center will work closely with the liaison for Niagara County Community College in tracking the students accepted into the program.
