Ms. Phyllis Floro attended Niagara County Community College from 1986-1988 and received her Associates Degree in Business Communication. Phyllis then attended the University at Buffalo where she received her Bachelor’s in Communication and her Master’s in Higher Education Administration all while working full time as a Student Union Associate.

Phyllis was then promoted to the Assistant Director of New Student Programs at UB and in 2009 was appointed as the Associate Director of the Intercultural and Diversity Center. She currently serves as the Director of Student Engagement at the University. Over the past 18 years, Phyllis has dedicated herself to not only being a mentor to the students, but also being a voice for them.

In her current position, Phyllis oversees student leadership development, community engagement programming and Experiential Learning at UB. Under her direction, working closely with Academic Affairs, Experiential Learning has been elevated to meet the interest and needs of students with hands-on involvement. She serves in countless initiatives within the community that connects students with opportunities to foster an experiential and lifelong learning.

Phyllis has never forgotten her start at NCCC. She continuously and proudly tells staff, faculty, and students how she first attended NCCC and how it provided an excellent start to her education. She enjoys telling her story to students asking for direction on how she began at a community college and prospered as a professional. To this day, she boasts about the foundation that NCCC has provided her and its reputation as one of the finest community colleges in the SUNY system.
