P/T Academic Tutor - Liberty Partnerships Program

Part time (up to 18 hours per week), 10-month, grant-funded position reporting to a Program Director within the Liberty Partnerships Program. The Technical Assistant is responsible for providing academic tutoring students in grades 5-12 in partner school districts. Positions are available at Lockport, Niagara Falls, and Niagara Wheatfield School Districts. Remuneration is $13.00 per hour or $16 per hour with a Master's Degree.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Assists Liberty staff in determining students' skill areas requiring additional assistance.
- Conducts individualized tutorial sessions for students with academic needs.
- Tracks student participation in tutoring sessions.
- Assists staff in providing specialized workshops for Liberty participants.
- Other duties as assigned.
Must be able to relate to students of the target population; must be able to interact with partner school teachers, staff and parents; must have effective oral and written communication skills; must have experience with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and database management; must be able to physically perform the duties of the position. Travel between work sites may be required.
Associate's Degree in related area or currently enrolled in an accredited college degree program. One (1) year full-time or equivalent part-time paid, professional experience working in an educational setting; preferably providing academic remediation.
Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field; experience working with students identified as "at risk", low-income, or first generation students.
