P/T Biology Technical Assistant (summer/fall 2017)

Responsibilities include preparing materials for use in undergraduate biology laboratories including microbiology media, microbiology cultures and chemical reagents; set up and remove class materials weekly in laboratory classrooms; maintain laboratory organization including proper sterilization and disposal of wastes; keep track of inventory including maintaining records, recommend purchasing; also ensure lab equipment is maintained.
Associate's degree or higher in Biology or a degree in a biology-related field with at least 6 lab-based science classes at the undergraduate or graduate level. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
Proficiency performing techniques in Microbiology: media preparation, culturing of bacteria, protozoans, and/or fungi, sterilization and disposal of wastes; proficiency using and maintaining an autoclave; experience maintaining microscopes and other laboratory instruments.
