Technical Assistant Biology

Full-time, twelve-month, tenure-track position reporting to the Chairperson of the Science, Health, and Math Division.  Responsibilities include preparation of materials for use in undergraduate biology laboratories, set-up and take-down for multiple laboratory classes, preparation of volumes of culture media, maintenance of live bacterial and fungal cultures, autoclaving of biologics,  disposal of biologics and chemicals, maintenance of lab equipment, inventory, ordering and receiving of lab classroom materials and equipment,  assisting with budget preparation.  Current contractual annual salary is $43,811.  Position is available for September 2018.


Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or Laboratory Technology.  Laboratory experience, through education or employment, in Microbiology, Human Anatomy and Physiology or Human Biology, General Biology, and Biotechnology.  A minimum of six months experience, through education or work, in bacteria culture transfers, culture media preparation, solution preparation, autoclaving, disposal of biologics and chemicals, purchasing and receiving, inventory.


Master’s Degree.  Coursework at the Bachelor’s level or higher or work experience in Botany, Zoology, Ecology, or Genetics.  Work experience maintaining lab instruments and equipment.  Experience, through education or employment, in a research or testing laboratory.  Demonstrable knowledge of OSHA/CLIA safety regulations.
