Cross Registration

Niagara County Community College participates in a Western New York Consortium Agreement & SUNY Cross Registration agreement with colleges and universities in Western New York and SUNY, whereby full time, matriculated students may cross register for an additional course, without cost, at a participating institution.

  • A student must be full time at their “home” institution.
  • Applications are only accepted in the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Registration is limited to one (1) course on a space available basis.
  • Cross Registration is not available until Last Chance Registration, which is typically the last couple days prior to the start of classes as published in the Important Dates document.
  • All course-related fees in excess of tuition are the responsibility of the student (e.g., lab fees, etc.)
  • Students must prove permanent residency in New York State for 12 months and Niagara County for the 6 months prior to the start of the semester, and provide a Certificate of Residency certificate if the student’s residency is outside of Niagara County, but in New York State.

Cross registration is intended to strengthen a student's academic program.  Students may cross register at participating institutions only when an equivalent course is not available at NCCC or the enrollment capacity has been reached in all NCCC offerings.  The course taken through cross registration MUST be transferred back to NCCC and applicable toward a degree/certificate program at NCCC.

Cross registered students that register previous to the published dates will not be honored as cross registered students and the tuition will not be deferred.  A cross registration application CANNOT be backdated for a previously enrolled course.  If a student does not submit the cross registration form at the time of registration, the student will be billed for the course.

Students that drop below full time status at their home institution become responsible for tuition.

Each participating institution may make its own policy regarding admittance of a cross registered student, so please check the policy of the institution you will be cross registering with. Click here to obtain a list of participating institutions within the WNY Consortium Agreement, along with important dates and further details.

  • Non-NCCC students may not cross register until Last Chance
  • Students must prove permanent residency in New York State for 12 months & Niagara County for the six (6) months prior to the start of the semester.
    • If the student’s residency is outside of Niagara County, but within New York State, the student must provide a Certificate of Residency form to the Cashier’s Office in order to have the Out-of-County charge waived.
  • Cross registration is only available for Spring and Fall terms.
  • NCCC will communicate with your home institution during the semester, and if you drop below full time status at your home school, you will be notified and billed for the course.
  • If you decide to drop or resign from the course at NCCC, our drop deadlines apply. Please see Important Dates.

Steps to Complete for Registration

  1. Obtain the Western New York Cross Registration or SUNY Cross Registration Form from the Registrar at your home institution and get any required approval from your home institution.
  2. Complete the Application for Non-Matriculated Students form and bring both forms to the Registration & Records Office (room A-201 in the Notar Administration Building). All incoming cross registration forms are subject to NCCC Registrar final approval.
  3. If you wish to take a course at NCCC that has a pre-requisite, you will need to prove successful completion of those pre-requisites. You can submit a copy of your unofficial transcript or grade mailer along with your Application for Non-Matriculated Students to NCCC.  Course pre-requisites can be found in the NCCC Catalog
  4. Submit your immunization records to the Wellness Center (C-122) at the time of application. All students, regardless of credit hours being taken, must submit proof of immunization. You can find immunization information online at: http://www.niagaracc.suny.edu/wellness/

PLEASE NOTE: NCCC and the other institution’s Registrar’s office will communicate during the semester, and if you become a part time student at NCCC at any time, we will notify the other institution which could result in an immediate bill for the student.

  • NCCC students may cross register at participating institutions only when an equivalent course is not available at NCCC or the enrollment capacity has been reached in all NCCC course offerings.
  • NCCC students will not be approved for cross registration if there is a hold on their record that prevents registration at NCCC.
  • The other institution might not permit cross registering students to enroll in certain courses, such as computing courses or those with labs. Please see the WNY Consortium Calendar for more information.
  • If you decide to withdraw from the course at the other institution, you have to follow their rules for drop deadlines. Find out what those dates are when you register!
  • Cross registration is only available for Spring and Fall terms.
  • If you cross register during your final semester at NCCC, it could delay your degree conferral pending receipt of official transcript.
  • The cross registration calendar information can be found on the WNY Consortium Calendar.

Steps to Complete for Registration
