Scholarship Application Process
- From the NCCC website you will click on the prospective students tab at the top and then financial aid and then finally scholarships. This will bring you to the scholarship webpage where you will see a variety of options to choose from. You can see the list of available NCCC scholarships before you apply as well as essay writing tips. You can also check the scholarships requiring a paper application to the many outside scholarships available. To apply for NCCC scholarships you would simply click on the orange Login Now tab which will bring you to the AwardSpring Scholarship System. For new users you will create a user name and password and for returning users you would simply login.
- Complete each required section throughout the application. Read all of the instructions carefully and make sure to upload the required documentation such as a general scholarship essay (refer to essay writing tips if needed) and your most recent unofficial transcripts.
- Once the application is complete, you will be able to apply and/or follow up for each scholarship that you are eligible for. Please note that some scholarships require that you upload 1-3 letters of recommendation in order to qualify while applying for them. Please also note that if you have to upload more than 1 letter of recommendation, the system will only allow you upload one pdf or word document so you will have to scan them all together and save as one document before uploading.
Where does the money come from to provide scholarships?
The funds to award these scholarships are determined from the interest generated from the NCCC Foundation’s scholarship endowment which currently totals $2.2 million. Additional donations received from the community as well as proceeds from the annual Scholarship Gala dinner enable supplementary awards as well.
How often are scholarships awarded?
Two times a year for the fall and spring semesters. The scholarship webpage is continually updated to reflect the most recent deadline dates for every scholarship offered.
Who decides upon the awards?
There is a scholarship committee who will review each applicant based on the established criteria, application, scholarship essay, transcripts and letters of recommendation (if required). The committee will give each applicant a score which will be used to determine who will receive an award when the committee meets to decide on scholarship recipients.
When will recipients be selected?
From the deadline date, it takes approximately 4-6 weeks for the committee to review and decide on the scholarship recipients. Once decided, the award and declination letters will be mailed to the students and if awarded the financial aid office will post the scholarship on their banner accounts as they are automatically calculated into a student’s financial aid package. A student's financial aid package is based on the cost of attendance which includes not only tuition but also such costs as books, fees, living expenses, and transportation.
The NCCC Foundation, Inc. reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to decrease the actual dollar amount granted from its scholarship awards based upon the economic performance of its investment portfolio from which scholarships are granted.
